Good Whiskey
by joetwo
“Son!”
My father used to tell me.
“Whiskey’s like a woman. It’s better to wait until they’re over eighteen before you take a sip. It’s just safer that way.”
If only I’d listened.

Good one!
Thanks!
ha! I wonder what kind of trouble he’s in now (:
For legal reasons I cannot say!
absolutely. also never go cheap on women or whiskey. The good stuff of each are worth every moment and penny.
The man knew what he was on about!
My favorite one so far. That last sentence…
Thanks Scriptor! Glad you liked it! 🙂
this goes the same for women choosing men too, you know? The packaging might be nice but a man who has never really matured , can hurt your own growth.
I liked it…it’s true, but it goes both ways. 😉
Absolutely! And I’m sure if the father had a daughter he’d tell her something similar. Thanks for reading! 🙂
I think my father told me this many times, I really should have listened back then. 🙂
glad to read, thanks for writing.
I hope your out of jail by now. Good one!
Over a year! Thanks for reading!
Made me chuckle – brilliant!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Ha! Although, I think there are some decent 10-year-old, whiskey’s that is…
True that!
This is the best one so far! You are so funny!
Thanks!
Good ol’ dad! Great fatherly advice.
The old codger knows a thing or two!
I laughed. Then I remembered I hate that men like younger women. Then I laughed again. Who cares.
Just think about the amount of grief younger women put men through. Nature balances out!
Haha! Good one 🙂
Cheers!
So great!
Thanks!
I just wrote a diddy with the same sentiments, only with school-age children stealing a first kiss. Liked this
Nice one! I shall go and read it!
It’s not up yet, just got inspired yesterdy while I was substitute teaching for second grade. It’s still but chicken scratch in my tiny travel notepad
Hmmm… wondering the consequences of not taking Dad’s advice. Incidentally, Dad should have mentioned something about condoms, too!! Nice to read you again, Joe. Amy
I think this father starts a lot of conversations with “son” so I suppose it would be mentioned eventually. Thanks for reading.
Ah Joe that brought a wide smile to my face – excellent. 🙂
Thanks! Glad you liked it! 🙂
Oh dear! Sometimes fathers are right about some things… Hopefully he has lived and learned. Great take on the prompt Joe!
Cheers!
The rules are different for older women. Maybe not in the law, but in practice – totally different. At least that’s what I keep telling myself when I sit at the beach watching surf instructors.
This post was yummy. (Now I’m thinking about those instructors and it’s totally affecting my choice of adjective) Ha!
I’m glad I diverted your mind so!
I’m not even a whiskey drinker and I know this is true. Great advice!
The man knows his stuff 🙂 Thanks for reading!
A great response to the challenge!
Thanks! 🙂
Ironically enough, my post is almost the counter part to yours, in that I had to seek advice from my Mother because I didn’t have a father to talk to about women. Her advice kept me out of trouble, for the most part. However, if my Dad had lived, would his advice had been different? Would I lived differently? I’ll never know the answer to that. Thanks for creating a great story, as you always do, Joe.
We are what we are. Who can know such things? Thanks for the comment.
Ever tried a 50 year-old whiskey? Jus sayin
Not personally but I hear good things! 😉
